It's Arrived :-)

Got the email today to say it's made it's way from Japan without being sunk (unlike a previous BMW order) and is in the dealership being PDI'd, getting it's satnav update and having the privacy 'film' attached ... Though it annoys me somewhat when they describe it in the brochure as privacy glass !!

Anyway two weeks today I'll have put my first few miles on it :-)

I'm a week into ownership and I'm really enjoying it. Really pleased with an indicated 65 mpg on my 28 mile commute this morning. Road noise isn't as bad as I thought from my test drive either!

Interesting that the dealer is fitting the privacy film. I wonder whether the "privacy glass" is available as a retro fit?

AFAIK it is a dealer-fit option so can be done after purchase ... But you could get done anywhere and possibly (although for once I didn't get a better price from reputable places) cheaper ...

I'm very jealous about your 65mpg. The best I've managed was an indicated 62.4mpg which turned out to be 59.9mpg at the pump. Looking at your location I did just wonder whether you rolled downhill all the way to work. ;) You'll have to let us know what you get on the way home.

You're right it is slightly downhill going to work. From the edge of the peak district to Old Trafford in Manchester. My overall indicated mpg for there and back today was 60.4, which is still a lot better than my golf used to manage.

I haven't checked the real mpg yet but will check on the next fill up.

After a quick enquiry with our local Toyota dealer, it's confirmed that they can retro-fit the privacy glass option. They can do either the "factory grade" of tint or a much darker option. Quoted £220 plus VAT.

So I've bitten the bullet and I'm having it done on Tuesday. Fingers crossed!
