Space Saver Tyre

Hi Guys

Only second post so bear with me.

I've recently retired and treated myself to a nearly new Rav 4 diesel 2009 2.2 td. ( i've always aspired ). We struck a good deal and at the time didn't think too much about " no spare wheel". I have since taken a part time job and now do 300 miles per week going some distance.I ran over a blooming castor off some piece of furniture and got a puncture. I didn't fancy getting the slime out and rang Toyota assist. The AA turned up promptly, the hole size was over 6mm but he managed to block it, enough to get me to ATS. They had to order me a tyre which turned up at the end of the day and then charged me £20 more than my local fitter, but the service was good.

Questions

Is a space saving wheel available?

If so will it fit in the vehicle?

If so is it available only from Toyota and what kind of price.

Any practical help appreciated.

Unless you need the space for mad dugs, etc., I would stick with a full size spare, and you should have wee trawl on eBay.

I presume that it's a 17" wheel and tyre, so I will have w ee lok also too forbye.

welcome t'club and congrats on a nice moatir purchase.

Big Kev

No 'Space Saver' but these: LINK

are available. Full size alloys come up on e-bay fairly regularly [doesn't need to be same pattern so long as dimensions same as original - unless you're picky and want everything to match of course]

Other option is an aftermarket alloy. Several of us lug a full size spare around in the back. A 17" wheel will just fit laying flat or can be stood up between the luggage cover and back seat. There are various storage options including bags, straps and a nifty 'cubby' built by a member whose name eludes me just now

T180 18" wheel currently on e-bay for those unfortunate enough to be wearing run flats by the way
