have to wonder how it would handle... i'm assuming it's a much heavier engine than the standard 1.0 > 1.5

would u need to stiffen the suspension right up and add strut brace to make it handle?

would be very quick though, it's probably a good indication of what the new MR2 SHOULD be!

god knows why they didn't put the 1.8 190 in that mr2

Bl**dy hell!!! :o

I really cant see the Yaris handling that amount of power.......... I could be wrong but I think the wheels would just spin. Then again, the engine is going to be heavier, thus giving extra weight over the front wheels........ I suppose its also down to clutch control aswell - (i'll just shut up eh!)

I'd love to see that go!!

true but havent seen it featured in any mags which begs the question- is it a fully working conversion?

putting the power down wouldnt be too much of a problem i'm putting 350bhp down in the rolla its all a matter of driving properly, not just full throttle in all gears you need to feed the power in.

wouldnt mind seeing it in the flesh though

Its a mad enough engine in the Corolla and Celica T-Sport let alone in a Yaris!

<_< hasn't this been said before???

pics of said yaris please. pics of work done, during and after would be good. i do remember that any info regarding this being done before lead to a dead end.

IF it can be done, then fantastic, but err the cost involved, it would be cheaper to slap a s/c on it, and at least you still keep you fairly new engine.

i've seen this conversion done already, jerry sent me photos of a yaris with a 1.8 190 about 8 months ago so it's not a new idea...

this website

quote from them

The engine bay in the case of the Yaris required slight modification to install the 180-horse power 1.8 Litre Toyota Celica engine giving the mini sized car remarkable performance.

engine piccy

i seem to remembe that absoutely no data couldbe gotten from this company about this conversion, so people kinda though it to be hype.???
