just to add, i disconnected the leads and put a spare spark plug in that i knows ok and there no sighn of spark at all.

I am presuming that the coil is inside the distributer cap, and should be fairly simple to test.

If anyone cou;ld reply before the morning, that would be good cause i'm gonna have to get up early andget it sorted. Thanks

I only have the spec for the following engines:

4A-F : Primary coil resistance 1.3 -1.5 ohms

Secondary Coil resistance 10.2 -13.8 kohms

4A-GE: Primary 0.41 - 0.50 Ohms

Secondary 10.2 - 13.8 kohms

Good luck

the engine code is 3S-FE

I have check the coil, the primary winding is 0.5-1 ohm, and the secondart winding is 8.3 K ohm.

There is also 12v going to the coil.

I'm totally confused about it.

Is any error code comes out on the OBD (On Board Diagnostics)?

If the coils and stuff were OK, it could be the crankshaft position sensor. If so, that usually appears on the OBD.
