Which Springs And Filter To Get?

hi ppl, my bro has a T - sport and he wants me to lower his and sort out the breathing.

iv suggested to him to go for a 30mm drop from just springs (i imagin the t-sport dampners will cope with this?) as for what make to go for, im not to sure, which do u guys recomend? i know Eibach and G max are good.

oh and i think a front strut brace would help tighten things up!

as for the breathing side, iv told my bro to leave the exhaust system as standard for now and just go for an induction kit with cold air feed OR a performance panel filter with drilled air box and maybe an extra cold air feed (im thinkin the latter maybe)

wat have u guys found to be the best, induction kit or drilled air box with performance pannel filter?

and lastly wat prices am i lookin at? i gues a lowerin kit is about £100, an induction kit is about £70 or £30 for a pannel filter, and about £50 for a strut brace???

i shouldnt be doin this for my bro as i dont want his car to be faster than mine! :crybaby::lol:

cheers guys :)

james

hmm. i'd go w/ the tte springs. since they're commonly used and widely available in your area.

for the induction kit. i'd get a "cold air intake" piping. and slap on the apexi power filter. that is the best filter.

here's the test. http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_t...st/2/index.html

later, u might want a bolt on exhaust system to complete the breathing department. or a custom make 2.25" piping w/ ur favourite universal muffler. a good bolt on would be the blitz nur spec. that too is common in ur area.

TTE springs and Blitz filter on mine with custom air feed, i know blitz are a bit cack on the filtration but still looks and sounds the nuts!

cheers for feed back guys

right, how much is the tte lowerin kit? and how much does it lower the car by?

also how much is the apexi induction kit? or a blitz one?

iv done sum research and i can get an apex 35mm lowerin kit for £70.

as for induction kits, all iv found is a piper x one which is £75. also a piper x element is £28 and a k&n element is £31.

i take it everyone on here thinks/knows that a good induction kit with a cold air feed is better than a DRILLED air box with a new performance pannel filter????

also as for strut braces i found an OMP one for £50 but its for the 1 litre yaris...will it fit the T - sport?

did someone say tte make one? if so how much?

cheers again guys/lasses!

Unless you sheild an induction kit (exposed filter) and cool it with a cold air feed... it's not gonna do you much good!

Arguably you're far better off drilling a hole into the air box, and as you say use a performance 'panel' for ur filtration....

You could link 2 cold air feeds to the airbox, one from either side... this way you're sheilding the air from the engine heat and grabbing plenty of cold air from ur custom feeds...

Of course when it comes time to selling ur car not everyone wants a drilled airbox.. :D

also you really should get a proper exhaust system if you want to get real gains from the breathing system

from personaly expiereince TTE springs are nice. HKS induction kit is good, except its at the back of the bay, but runnig cold feeds to it is easy, we've got 2 feeds, and curretnly working on shielding it. also gonna sheild the exhasut manifold as its got no shielding at all

with HKS backbox and ind kit, power went from standard to 119bhp. Sounds good too.

I always though drilling airboxes was the cheap-boy-racer thing to do, going on past escort experience. also the problem is, you can't put it back to standard if you sell it, unless you buy a new filter box???

I have Eibachs on my TS. They lower by 30mms. Highly recommended. I got them for 200 Euros.

H&R also make quality springs. They lower 35mms.

You won't be disappointed with either of these two.... :)

cheers for the replys guys!!!

i went to my local carnoisseur 2 day and ordered the following things...

Apex -35/40mm lowerin kit

OMP front strut brace

Pipercross pannel filter

the reason y we went for apex rather than Eibach is coz i aint heard of anything bad about apex, and also it was about £60 cheaper than Eibach!

omp strut brace to stiffen things up :)

after lookin at the T - sports air intake system (ie the air box), i decided that an induction kit would be a little to close to the engine for my liking, and also a good heat sheild would be needed me thinks (as well as cold air feeds).

looking at the air box, i realised i could make a hole on the right hand side of the box (opposite side to the engine) and fit a cold air feed straight into the box from the front grill/head lamp area....this way it would get extra cold air and not suffer from the engine heat as much as an induction kit!

also a piper x pannel filter is £30 which is a lot cheaper than the induction kits out there! and i can buy a cold air feed from Halfords for 3 odd squid :)

so this is why i decided to go down the modified air box with performance pannel filter route!

and if worse come to worse, wen my bro sells the car, if the new owner dont want/like the air box modd, all i av to do is buy the lower half of an air box (the sr is the same size i believe (257 length and 115 width))... or failing that as long as i cut the hole out of the box well, i could always put it back in and seal it (use sum tigre seal etc) lol i know that sounds bodge, but im sure id make a good job of it!

right my dinners ready now lol... il be makin a new post soon, showin sum pics of my bros car, and the red calipers i painted 2day :)
