Should Be Simple But....

When my new to me Avensis arrived it was minus the clips to hold the driver's side protective mat in place. THe cups into which the clips fit are present and correct. No problem i thought - get some clips and fit them ......but I am struggling. Have tried pressing them in to no avail - just sore thumbs. What is the technique? Have thought of hitting with a hammer but will probably break something, Hold prongs together with long nose pliers to ease insertion? The task should be simple but I am struggling ... probably says a lot for my DIY skills! Ideas anyone?

Insert them at an ANGLE, and it seems to compress the split springy part a lot easier. Just did mine recently.

Big Kev

Big Kev you are a genius. Went out and did what you said - fixed very easily even though it was dark and I was working by internal car light only. Thank you.
