Rear Brake Noise

Hi, i'm new to the forum!

I’ve just fitted new rear discs and pads to my celica 140 (2000 reg)...when re-setting the caliper piston the piston broke (was really rusted)...so I also fitted a new caliper!!

Took it for a test drive and there’s a loud metallic scraping noise coming from the rear wheels. It makes the noise all the time and increase in volume when turning.

I thought it might be the new pads bedding in but I’ve driven about 45miles and the noise is still very loud!...also handbrake isn't working very well anymore, (worked fine before hand)?? I’m going to adjust that tonight.

Any ideas on what’s causing the scraping noise??

Thanks for your time,

Nick

i think you may of bent the stone guard in a little and its rubbing on the rear discs , jack each rear wheel up in turn and spin it by hand , you should be able to replicate the noise if its what i think it is.

All sorted! The discs were rubbing on the metal plate behind the handbrake shoes...not the outer stone guard (or is that the stone guard)?? Random because I can't see how it would have bent in towards the disc?? And I’ve adjusted the handbrake...so, touch wood, the cars in working order...for now!!

thanks for your help mate!
