Is This Normal

I have checked with the local dealer and verified that my newly acquired 2009 Avensis T$ 2.2D4D has had the accelerator recall work undertaken. If I press the accelerator to the floor about half way down there is an audible "click" whilst the pedal continues down. When released the pedal returns smartly to full height and shows no sign of sticking. I have noticed the resistance at the click point if I accelerate sharply while driving but the click is of course more audible if the car is stationery with the engine off. I have checked that the pedals are not impeded by carpet etc.I have not noticed this characteristic on any other car I have driven but this is the only avensis I have driven for several years. Is the click normal for an Avensis?

as your car should still have a warranty why not let a main dealer check it out.

as there could be a safety issue here why take a risk.

My vehicle was not on the recall over this problem, however my mates was i phoned him this evening asked him about any audible noise on his pedal travel.

He said a definate "NO" and a smooth action, i would do as already suggested its a safety issue so take it to Mr T and have it looked at.

its ment to do this and was doing it before the recall...nothing wrong with the pedal...i could go video every new avensis we have in stock and show you if you like...

the reason it does this......its the same pedal used for the auto and thats how kick down is activated

It's normal, mine has done it from new, and as Ormi says it's the same pedal assy used in the auto for kickdown.
