Greetings!

I have owned a 2002 celica VVTI 140bhp for about 2 months now and am currently hating it. I bought it after having my 1998 2.0 130bhp mondeo writen off due to the snow. The celica's performance is terrible. it has been very well looked after, 1 lady owner and fsh from toyota, I also history checked it before buying. The car does not pull at all in any gear even when I put my foot down. My mondeo used to go strait to 100 with no hesitation and pulled very nicely. I really expected more from the celica being much newer and looking sporty lol. I guess looks were deceiving. It feels like im driving a really old 1.6 ford escort.

Is there anything i can do to make this car pull, like paying longlife to put a mega exhaust on it? If not i may just sell the thing to get my money back. I am gutted :(

Please people I'll be gratefull for any tips/advice and thanks for reading!

'One lady owner' just means that it's been crashed more and never had the oil topped up...

Did you read up about the performance before you bought it? The 0-60 is something like 9 seconds. It might help to give it a good run out, revving it hard etc.

What you need to remember about these cars is they lack torque, which you Mondeo would have had more of. All the power is at the top end of the rev range.

Is it smokey at all?

your petrol engine is never going to pull like your mondeo did.

i had both a 130 bhp and the 155 bhp mondeos then switched to an auris 1.6 vvt1,wasnt expecting anything like the performance from it.but driving a diesel is different from a petrol engine car,

but they may be a problem with your car anyway,so why not get it checked out first, before making any decisions.

Change the Oil (takes 5W30), Plugs, and especially the Air Filter..then see how it goes. I went from a 97 2.0 Mondeo to my 140 and wasn't disappointed.

Also, what size Wheels and Tyres are you running?, this can make a big difference to a car that's lacking in torque. Mine's on 17's and I've fitted 215/40 on the front instead of 205/45, the smaller rolling radius certainly helps.

unless i was 17 i would never buy a 140 driving a 140 is like spending a week in jail apart from the week in jail will go past faster.....

nothing you do to a 140 will make it go any quicker

thanks for your input all, no the car does not smoke.... i may have ****** up BIG TIME by taking it to .. long life...£364. when the car's temp is at normal max running temp the exhaust they put on rattles like a ubik. i think its expanding when hot and rubbing something.... and to make the situation even better my engine malfunction light came on whist waiting at the lights... at the same time the exhaust was rattling badly... after googling it the first thing that popped was emmissions. the car has been running fine until they put thier exhaust on it. maybe longlife have ****** up and i think they should be liable to any damage to my celica?

yes im clueless
