Key Number

When I received my 09 Avensis there were two working Smart entry keys but I have not got the number. What should I do to recover the number before I encounter any problems of missing or non functioning keys? Is there a central database which would hold the number?

your poblem got me thinking what ive done with my key code tag.

dont keep it on either mine or the wifes fob ring.just the garage door key on the ring.

anyway ive now found it,put away safe with house spare keys on a key ring with the number repeated on the key ring plastic tab.

the problem is if the previous owner does not hand the code number tag in sure the salesmans not not going to mention it,

its not the kind of thing that you would think of when buying a car.

but it should be whoever sold you the car problem to sort this out.

For reference I have now phoned the dealer that sold the car (in Leeds). I acquired the car via Club Autosave - as I live in Norwich. Dealer advises that if I take the V5 to my local main dealer they will be able to get the key number off the Toyota database. Will try next week and post how I get on for reference of others as it can't be uncommon for tags to go missing
