After Market Cd Player...a Query

My lad and GF have successfully fitted a cd player in the empty tray, but he has noticed he cant operate the computer to check MPG etc

it stays on average mpg , pressing the button doesn't seem to do anything now, it did before.....suggestions?

It sounds like one of the cables in the back haven't been connected; When I fitted my XCarlink I unplugged this huge plug which had only two wires in it from my radio and plugged my XCarlink into it, and found the whole centre console below the digital dash display had stopped working!

Turned out that cable needed to be connected to the built in radio as it is some sort of communications bus for all the gizmos in the centre console, and I had to get a Y-splitter cable so I could plug everything in at the same time.

The thing is the .... that the display is going, when they are driving the computer reads the average mpg

But they can't change it to anything else

Do you think it still is a connection not making?
