I've read most of the other posts on this problem but am interested as to whether anyone has ever been given a reason by a dealership as to why they seem unable to stop it ?

My Aygo Blue (60 reg) has been in the garage twice in the last 4 weeks and is going in again on Tuesday as it's leaking water in the rear passenger footwell - again. First time they told me they'd replaced the door and roof seals, second time they said they'd replaced them again ? Can't see the reasoning in that really but hey ho. Is it down to the person who does the job ? The mechanic who did the last job on my car needs sacking, trim missing from the centre console, back seat completely broken, and worst of all, a strip of stanley knife blades left on the floor which my daughter picked up, cutting her hand. When i checked the replaced door seal, there is glue everywhere and in some places the seal isn't stuck down. Needless to say i let them know how i felt about these issues but am not confident that they'll sort it out this time.

Is this problem due to the door or roof seals ? If it is, how come replacing them doesn't seem to stop it ? I love my car and don't want to change it, i just want a dry car ! The service manager has promised me that he will personally sort it out, how far has anyone had to go ?

Sorry to hear you had such a bad service experience! I should Hope that mechanic has been sacked! My door seals havent been replaced but a little water ingress into boot prompted me to sort it out... I peeled up the boot seal off the lip and replaced the glue with a little automotive sealant, Granville I think... Ever since my boot has been bone dry! Hope that helps!

Thanks for the reply James, i don't think the water is getting on through the boot though, it's the rear passenger footwell where the water is collecting. I'll still mention the boot on Tuesday when i drop off the car though. I'm going to persevere until they sort it out ! They'll get sick of me eventually ! I emailed Toyota Head Office after this second leak and someone called me on Friday to say they were liaising with the Dealership about my problem so hopefully it might be sorted this time !

Fingers crossed that you have made enough of a stir to get something done! I've luckily never experienced or heard of the level of service you are describing so hope that you will have an easier time of it now! Yes rear footwells a common place but maybe the same treatment to the door seal ad I had to do to my boot will solve your problem... But then again u should just be able to get Toyota to fix it!! Good luck for Tuesday, let us know how it goes!

Do you park your car facing downhill? My theory is that unlike the C1 and 107, the Aygo rear lights have water run down on them. These can leak like mine did and the water runs in to the boot along the side. A slight downhill run could make the water run forward in to the footwell. Otherwise it builds up along the carpet then runs in to the spare wheel dip.

I park it facing uphill !! On my drive, so if the water is getting in because of this it must be getting in through the door ? (my car is the 3 door model) No water leaks in the boot at all, i've checked tonight. It's only wet on the passenger side though. Just after i got the car, i was waiting for my daughter and was parked with 2 wheels on the kerb (drivers side on the road) and it was pouring with rain. I could actually hear the water dripping inside the door panel ! It's back to the garage tomorrow so we'll see what happens ! When the weather was really cold back in December, i actually saw water dripping from under the interior roof trim on both sides ! I had to put a towel on the rear seat to stop it getting soaked. There was also water inside the light, the garage changed this for me last time it went in. I think that water was condensation on the roof due to the wet carpets.

When you close the door you can still see the seals through the gap. Can you see any gaps in there?

heres the inside story about the leaks how the water gets in

cause.......................................repair

1)door seals---------------------modified doorseals and an additional seal fitted

2)speaker covers-----------------modified speaker covers

3)rear air vents-----------------modified vents(thicker seal)

4)high level brake light---------new brake light

5)rear lights--------------------replace the seal

not here to argue i sort these cars and have sorted lots of these

Hi Ormi,

Thanks for that, they've fitted 2 separate lots of door seals so far but no additional seals from what i can see. I think i'll mention the speaker covers tomorrow as when i asked them what they thought was causing the leak, they only ever mention the door seals, never the speaker covers. As i could hear water dripping inside the passenger door, i think it might probably be that. It's good to be able to go back to them with as much info as possible, don't know why they don't read these forum posts ! They'd have more happy customers ! Thanks everyone, will be back to let you know how it goes.

ill clear up what i mean.....

2door..........the modified door seal plus a full length seal that sticks above the normal one(directs the water away from the top of the seal) so you have 2 seals per door

5door..........modified door seals front and rear plus a full length seal above the other two to stop water running on to the top of the door seals

Ours had a new offiside rear door seal and the extra rubber gutter above the doors and no problems since - this was almost three years ago.

BTW - I can confirm that 107s leak. A colleague found her driver side footwell full of water a couple of weeks ago.

Hello all,

Well i picked my car up yesterday. The service guy said that they'd tested it and discovered that the water was getting in through the rear lights so they have sealed them again, hopefully this will sort it. It sounds as though it could be right as although the water was in the rear footwell, there was no water at all in the front of the car or any evidence that it was getting in from the door seals. They told me that they saw water running down and under the rear seat. The mechanic isn't too bright though, he told me they had another Aygo in for the 5th time with a leak !!! Don't know who trained him but they havent done a very good job ! Will just have to wait and see. Thanks for all your help xxx

Hello,

My Aygo Black 2010 is at Arnold Clark just now with similar problems. 2 weeks ago I noticed that my front and rear carpets and mats were soaked through. The car went to Arnold Clark and they confirmed the problem was with leaks due to issues that were supposed to have been resolved. I have spoken to AC today and there is also water coming via the ariel through the interior light and leaking onto the carpets. My interior light as a yellow/orange stain on it.

I fell really angry because just before I bought my Aygo i asked the salesman if this issue has been resolved? He informed me that it had and I would have no problems at all. This allied with AC feet dragging regarding fixing the problem and made it a tiresome week. I am now not sure when I will get my car back. After 1 day's inspection I was told 2 or 3 days at the most. Its now looking like 4 to 5 and if you include the inspection day 6!

I have emailed Toyota and look forward to there reply.
