Right rear wheel is locked on I can’t seem to free it up, it was standing for about six weeks the ABS light stays on when trying to move it.

So far have tried to remove alloy wheel to knock on the brake drum free but the wheel won’t budge

I did try to drive back & forwards to free it up. Also it’s real hard to jack up due to been parked on gravel (old house)

Is this an issue with ABS or is just brake shoes locked?

Advice please losing the will to live on this one !

Jacking a car on soft or loose ground requires the jack to be placed on a broad base such as a plank of wood or such.

Will the car drive forward and allow the seized wheel to trail across the gravel surface.:)

I suppose your car has brake discs all around, and brake shoes for the hand brake.

If so, is it the disc pads or the drum shoes that are locking the wheel.

In case the hand brake drum is the problem, you should be able to retain the

brake shoes by rotating an adjustment wheel located behind a rubber plug on the drum.

Looks like cars with no rear discs doesn't have the adjustment wheel.

Are you sure the hand brake wire is slackened? If it is, there could be

something stuck between the shoes and the drum (now I'm guessing).

Hello, you need to get the car jacked up and on axle stands on firm ground, by whatever means you need to get the road wheel off, it will be seized on where the wheel sits on the centre of the brake drum. This is the part where YOU make the decision ... the wheel needs to be hit from the back with a heavy hammer and a block of hardwood until it comes off, only then can you start to remove the brake drum! The brake lining may have de-bonded from the brake shoes or they are just seized on with rust. When you get the wheel off as Cmia says tap the brake drum with a hammer, a copper one is best, not everyone has one of these. Take care with a metal hammer as the drum could break but it has to be done, once it's off or released you can fix the problem.

Regards Pete.
