Possibility Of Tailgate Modification

Hi All,

I am in the process of purchasing a Hilux Invincible, but being disabled I need to carry my mobility scooter in back. The problem is that the tailgate only opens to the same level as the truck bed, this makes the distance the hoist has to reach too great. Is there any box/housing that incorporates a new tailgate that opens up the way perhaps on gas struts leaving only the rear bumper to cross.

Any help or suggestions will be most greatfully received.

That is a common type of modification, however usually on a car and not a Hilux

There are plenty of motability specialists out there, I think you should seek the advice of one of those companies

I doubt you will find a specific mod with a replacement of the Hilux tailgate

what about fitting the rear suspension with airbags??that way you can have the rear decked then once the scooters in raise it back up..
