Hi guys

Can anyone tell me if the paint code is in any of the numbers on the car, if so where, got a few marks I wold like to sort out.

Yesterday I tried out the Simoniz Pro scratch pen (99p) on a couple of them it seems to work, they went away, I polished over one of them this morning and its back,BUT it does say in the instructions it need sun on it to cure it, so that maybe the problem, its freezing here again today, so I will now leave it unitl/if we ever get any sun.

I've often wondered whether those pen thingies work.... t'will be interesting to see if you have any luck if/when we get some sun! (having said that, the sun is blazing away here to no effect, it's still blood6 cold!)

Paint code - is contained in the vin number - give your local Mr T the vin and he will give you the paint colour

Colin - just a thought, did you try adding a figure to your MG Nut login? MGnut 1 or something.. ??

at least it would have been similar to your old one, not that it matters now mind you, 'cos we all know you as Colin!!

Yes I would be very interested to know your success with the pen.

I have recently bought some scratch remover to tackle some scratches that appeared after it had been serviced :censor: Weather hasn't be kind enough for me to try it out yet.

Try both links below for further info., regarding paint codes.

The first shows the likely location and the second is a professional paint mixing scheme.:)

Hi James

Thanks for that spot on, the sales guy who sold me my car gave me a tin of paint, after I asked him if he could get me a touch up kit it was 1G3 that is on the tin, it is nothing like the colour chart, which is almost the samd colour as my car, the tin I have, the colour looks almost black, I have not tried it as it looks completly wrong, I will try to put some on something and see what colour it drie,s to, I think the paints these days are water based, I also have a Volvo V40 that the last owner scratched I bought a kit, the car is green, when I applied it to the car it was well to dark, ten minute after appleing it said to use the top of one off the tubes that had a soft pad on it wet with water and apply, when I went out later the colour matched the car maybe this is the same. I will get back to you all to let you know

Hi David.

Yes I also have two or three tubes of scratch paste, I find they are rubbish. this is why I thought I would try these, I must say, I painted the scratches yesterday theis morning they had gone, I have a fairly big one near the top of the passenger door, about 1 1/2 inches long, the pen filled it with no problem, it looked good, I thought I would seal it it by polishing over it, mistake its back again, but as I said it need to cure in the sun,"as it says on the tin",before I polished over it you could barely see it, its the first stuff that I had tried thaat seems to work, I have had a second pen arrive today, so got plenty to practise with.
