Gear Box Issue?

Hi All, I have an 07 Auris d4d 2.0 TR. I picked it up about 6 weeks back from Toyota.

I had a strange noise (kind of grinding shudder) if the i went to pull away and then sank the clutch again. Took it into Toyota under warranty, who ended up taking the gearbox apart and fitting a new 1 and 2 gear. Since I have had it back, when the car is cold and stationary, the gears are fine, but when it moves, it have to fight to get 1 and 2 gear, (its really stiff) to a point where my wife wouldnt be able to get the gears. The funny thigs is, when the engine is warm, its normal and the gears are fine.? Any ideas?,

when cold, 3,4,5 and are fine, as is reverse (any time) Strange how 1 and 2 were changed, and this is where the problem is? Im no techie, but want some advice to counter and understand anything toyta suggest. having been on a call today with them, they think it may be oil being to thick as anything wrong with the gears would mean the problem is always there?? if the oli was too thick, wouldnt this afect all the gears? And why onl when the car is moving?

Thanks in advance!

Your topic has been answered on here before, its good that you have had the work done under warranty but unfortunatley the stiff changes 1st & 2nd gear are still present, its quite normal if anything a characteristic of the gearbox as many have reported the same issue including myself, shifts nice & smooth once warmed up.

I have changed the recommended gear oil using redline a reputable oil company but its not made a difference.I dont know if its a weather related issue? because it doesn't seem as difficult to shift when the temperatures are 3/4 degress +

If there is a way to resolve this somebody please advise?

I have the stiffness of gears when its cold too but they seem to get better as it warms up. 1.33 Dual VVTI engine in 2009 Auris.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I think my main points on this is is that :

1) - the stiffness was not there untill the 1st and 2nd gears were changed

2) - The gears are so stiff, that it is impossible for my wife to shift the gears when its cold

There is no way this can be "normal" - in my view, if its not like it on a new car, why should we accept this is norml now!?

brand new car has a brand new gearbox, and the gears shift nicely! - I am just trying to understand what would cause this?
