Misfire Engine Light And Smell

Good Evening.

Any help most appreciated on my wifes 99 Yaris 1.0.

I have suspected it has been missing on one cylinder on and off for a few days. However, today we have the engine warning orange light on and it is missing as soon as throttle is applied. The car is doing 14mpg and I think I can smell fuel in the exhaust.

I have checked the coils and no 2 is totally different to the other three in that it looks burnt andthe engine block it sits in is a glazed effect. The coil is a light brown where as the other three are gray and look new. All are the originals!!

I checked the resistance and the coil all read the same and in line with the Haynes manual. But I still suspect coil no 2.

Any advice please before I go to the scrappy.
