Timing Belt Or Chain...?

Hello folks,

Does anyone know if a '52 plate Avensis Verso 2.0 VVTI (petrol) has a timing belt or a timing chain?

How often does the belt (or chain) need replacing? Unfortunately, I don't have a service manual to refer to.

It has a chain and it will probably never need replacing.

Regards Pete.

i just changed my belt myself..

took me only about an hour fiddling around.. but you need a size 18 spanner with a long leverage (sleeve a scaffold pole over the spanner) and pull the tension pulley nut and the belts slips in and tensioned back to pull everything tight.

make sure you keep the Battery on, i disconnected my Battery as i was fiddlign with the alternator and i got bad idling with the first few days of driving because the ECU was off calibration and it took a day or 2 before it self adjust back to normal.
