Fuse Box Cover

Might sound a daft question but where is the fuse box cover on a 2011 RAV4?

If it's where I think it is, below the steering column on the door side (mines a LHD model) HTF do you open it? It's just a square(ish) plastic panel with no visible means of access. The reason I ask is that I found what looks suspiciously like a fuse box cover and a little white plastic thingy that looks like a fuse puller lying in the drivers door pocket. My handbook is in Spanish (I can read a bit of Spanish) but can't find any reference to it in the book and the only guy at the Toyota dealership who speaks a bit of English seems to have gone on holiday - probably on the commision he earned on my car :(

On the early cars it was on the footwell of the passenger which of course is your drivers side.... behind a plastic panel which was removed by 3 screws - easy to access without pedals in the way. Seems as if they haven't changed the design then. Its difficult to reach if, like me, one suffers from back or joint problems as you need to be able to hang upside down from the courtesy light above.

Hmmm, ta for that, it's a 2011 model BTW, can't find ANY likely looking panels with 3 screws on. I did manage to bang me nose on the brake pedal, dislocate a shoulder and get me thumb stuck in the cigarette lighter socket - the one at the bottom of the glove box :(

Am I alone in wondering why they put a cigarette lighter socket in the bottom of the glove box? I found the ashtray in there too, at least I think it's an ashtray, it looks a bit like a black plastic cup, with a lid, and a bit inside to rest a !Removed! on - 'suppose I shouldn't be too surprised having found what looks like a fuse cover and plastic fuse pulling thingy in the drivers door pocket - which, if I hadn't found it I wouldn't be looking for the fusebox I suppose :(

The socket in the arm rest cubby is an additional auxilliary outlet - useful for phone charging etc.

I have the drawing somewhere for an intermediate divider that I made up that divides the storage unit into two levels - I keep my SATNAV in the lower half out of sight when not in use. Gloves in top section

duh

I know its a new model.

Your description however is very like the position of where the fuse box has always been

Its not a panel but a part of the interior plastic shrouding which can be pulled off the push clips I guess. If you can't find screws then its been changed to faster and cheaper push clips. Without really trying hard to be sarcastic, why does yer car have a glove box on the drivers side ?????

OK, Lee, it should be the same as my US-spec RAV4. Get down in the footwell, and look straight up just behind that square panel you mentioned. It should be right there behind the bonnet release lever. The plastic cover with the fuse legend snaps onto it, and the white fuse puller is stored in the right-hand side fuse box under the bonnet. If you were to pop out that square panel, you would find several relays and connectors, but the fuse holder is below that mounted horizontally, and you can't really see it from the front.

Sorted ta :)

I'd been trying to remove what appears to be a non removeable panel, once I'd found the right hole to look up I got the fuse cover back on, found the fusebox under the bonnet (on the UK drivers side) that one already had a fuse puller in it, noticed ANOTHER identical box on the other side of the engine bay which was another fuse box, chucked the fuse puller in that one :)

I loved the mid level shelf for the glovebox, might well try that myself, thanks for posting the photos

Thanks for the info.

Wouldn't mind a copy of the template if you have it. Good idea and template would save me measuring up.

Anchs was going to pin this ages ago...................

Anyway here you go:Divider%20pdf%20version1.pdf

I used 2mm modelmaking styrene but any rigid, thin sheet material would do I guess. I covered both sides in self adhesive 'Fab Foam' from Hobbycraft. Trapped a loop of ribbon between the foam and the styrene.

Hope that helps - will save you all the measuring
