Water Ingress

Went to look at a yaris today and all was good,

the only bad thing i noticed was when checking the spare wheel compartment there was some standing water in there.

Has anyone experienced this and able to shed a bit of light on it?

it doesnt seem like a major problem on the face of it but i could lead to electrical problems and corrosion over time if the source of water ingress cant be found.

dont want to buy something that is forever letting in water!!

Some people have had water ingress from around the back lights - taking them out and sealing them again fixes that.

Others (me included) got water ingress in our Mk1 Yaris from the top of the hatch - where the wires go into the body that feed the rear screen heater and wiper - inside where the hatch lifts up at the top between the hinges.

That ran all the way down into the wheel well.

Cured mine with some silicon sealant and duct tape around where the plastic wiring cover meets the body Shell. Not too pretty but you only see it when the hatch is open....
