Good evening Honourable Gents! After looking @ the forum a couple of days ago, reading about egr valve cleaning, I thought I would tackle it today. IT WAS A DODDLE! :yahoo: .....even for me.. though I was wondering If I got the right thing, as the ones in the post had two bolts and 2 nuts but mine only has 2 bolts and one nut. still I got it out no problem and went back in easily enough. Thanx for the info, as I doubt I would have been able to do it with out the pics & advice.cheers again......Now for the dreaded turbo!

Hi Anchorman, howz u doin'?. well just got word I might be started back @ work next month, so with a bit of luck, (and not many bills!) I might get into it then. The last mechanic I took the car to said there was oil in places that should'nt have oil! am I right in thinking that means places like egr, air intake ect? I've already started cleaning them out.Thanx for any advice u may have

OK Baz but keep in mind a system with a really healthy turbo will have an oily residue on the inside of all the pipes and the intercooler etc.

I wouldn't like you to waste time or money on it so run it for a bit before you start ripping into it and fix it if it is obviously broken.

Congratulations on the job situation

re: above reply. the only reason I'm lead to believe its the turbo is because the b***** mech. told me. It has/had an oilt residue in the pipes. btw, when Iwent to pick-up the car and tow it back home, the mech. said it had "put oil all over the garage wall (I saw this)and then said it was a big job blah blah blah and had taken the heat plugs out for some reason It also left the engine with little or no oil left in the sump!

hmmm - try and look at another one first. I can absolutely assure you there will be that oily residue in all the pipes and the intercooler. When it goes through the engine it comes out as soot and tbh, 4.2 EGRs are as tough as old boots.

As they say in these parts - "there's nowt wrong with sheep sh........

......oh no sorry, not that one, "dunner worry until tha's got summat to worry about"
