Bonnet Lock - Rust

Hi all,

Upon opening my aygo's bonnet to top up the windscreen water tank, i noted that the lock hinge under the bonnet, is showing signs of rust. Once informing Toyota, they said its not a problem, given its only the hinge & not the spray under the bonnet, or the bonnet per se'. They say its normal?!!

Is it normal??!

If it's made of untreated ferrous metal and exposed to the elements then rust is normal and to be expected. It's no different to brake discs rusting.

Thanks for your info, but is it sometin to worry about? Can the rust move onto the paintwork itself?

Nothing to worry about... if you really feel like it then rub it off with a wire brush then squirt some WD40 will do the job nicely!
