Fuel Leak Around Injectors

Hi

Has anybody come across a random fuel leak around the fuel injectors on a 1.8 2004 avensis? The garage thought it might be a suspect injector and replaced one but because its random its hard to diagnose. Where ever the leak is coming from it fills the area around the injectors only and then stops. I would have thought, as its a pressurised system, that it would either leak or not leak rather than be random!?

Only the feed to the injectors are under high pressure. Looks like you have a leak on the return side (no pressure) - probably a connector seal has failed where it connects to the injector.:)

hello mate

you should be careful when spotted. either leak/s from extreme pressure line is not admissible.

in case you have just minor wetted area/s around injection valve then possible reasons are as follows:

- valve cover hole seal wear down;

- return line hose have dried out;

- lack of good tightening of the injection valve when assembled before.

Hi,

When you spot fuel around the injectors, it's almost certain the return pipe/hose(s) leaking.

If the high pressure system is leaking, the fuel will be all over the place, and you should not smoke within at least a 10 meter radius of the car... :!Removed!:

And it will not be random.

Hi All

Thanks for your comments, I have just had the fuel rail replaced as this was at the top of the 'educated guess' list at garage - is there some kind of pressure relief valve half way along it, they thought that might be faulty? So far there has been no further prolems, but as there was a month or so between the last leaks I'll keep you updated.

regards

Bryan
