Rite i'm i'm thinkin of buying a new induction kit and wos wondering wot i should do wen i get it fitted! Should i take it 2 a garage 2 get it professionally set-up? Should i pull out the ecu plug and then plug it back in so that the engine thinks its always had that amount of air/fuel mixture?

If i do need 2 take it 2 a garage can any1 recommend a good 1 in the West of Scotland or Glasgow?

Just fit it yourself, takes no more than a few minutes on most cars and no more than 30mins if you have never done it yourself ever.

Yeah just reset the ECU once your done and remember to put an sensors back in that you remove. :thumbsup:

Sum1 must have the definitive answer here! Leeky says u need 2 reset the ecu and nws25 says u don't???

Ask yourself WHY would you need to reset the ECU??

You will have some sort of AFM , so the ECU knows exactly how much air is entering the system, altering the the filtering/removing it completely for that matter, doesn't add more air just allows it to be sucked in easier.

I know wot ur sayin nws25 but if u go 2 the Yaris section and read the thread induction kits, don't get 1, u'll c why i'm asking!!!

Replied in that and repeated myself.

Its the oil in the Pipercross that made your AFM go. Get a decent Jap make.

I'm gonna get an Apexi 1 m8, thats why i'm currently tryin 2 sell my pipercross 1................

Admittedly, resetting the ECU won't do any harm, but just a totally unneccesary thing to do.

The ECU will sort it self out after about 10 mins of driving anyway.... no need to reset, and heres why.

1) You fit a new induction kit and reset your ecu:

When you reset your ECU it reverts to bog standard fuel map and remaps itself after about 10mins of driving, it chooses the best suited fuel maps like normal and is quite happy.

2) you fit a new induction kit and DONT reset your ecu :

When you drive off your ecu is none the wiser and chooses the most apropritate fuel map for the fuel/air speed load conditions like normal.

Your decision.

Would you reset your ECU every time you refuel ? didn't think so.

On the other hand after fitting and driving take it to a tuning station for optimisation of your new breathing ability, they will probably richen the initial fuel rate to provide better fuelling throughout the but only if your ecu maps cannot cope (very doubtfull)
