Celica Speaker Upgrade

Hello, I have a Toyota Celica VVTI 140 and I was thinking of upgrading the Speakers in the car to a more powerful set. I have already purchased a Kenwood DNX-5240 headunit so the next logical step would be the Speakers. I just have a couple of questions and wonder if anyone could help me.

Firstly, I would like to know if it is worth upgrading the Speakers at all.

Secondly, what size the speakers are currently.

Thirdly, how to get the panels off to get at the speakers to make the switch.

Thanks for any information you could provide

It really depends on how much you want to spend.

Firstly, there is no need to upgrade the rears, as that would only benefit any rear seat passengers. The fronts are 6.5"/17cm and can be replaced by drilling out the rivets holding them onto the plastic surround, and using self tappers to secure the new Speakers.

For a big improvement you need to install an Amplifier. One of the most popular installs is to fit a four channel Amp., with two channels powering a 10" or 12" Subwoofer located in the Boot area, and the other two powering the upgraded component Speakers in the front. If you choose this route, you will also need to upgrade the wiring to the fronts. Both Focal and Alpine are quality pieces of kit when it comes to I.C.E. The Door Cards themselves are easy to remove, but routing the upgraded cable through to the Doors is fiddly and time consuming. Hassle..yes, worth it..definitely.

HTH :)
