Key Fob Dosnt Work. Can I Use Key Instead?

hi my key fob for a avensis t spirit reg 54 has stopped working. can I open the car and drive it without the alarm going off. is it possible to disable the alarm if this is not the case?

The alarm will sound when you open the door but will cancel when you insert the key in the ignition. Locking with the key will not set the alarm.
