O2 Sensors

Hi all

I finally have to admit defeat and look to replace the o2 sensor ( bank 1 sensor 1 ) on my 53 plate 2ltr T spirit. Now I've seen these mentioned on here for the 1.8's etc but not for the 2ltr and was wondering if in terms of location there was any difference. Also in terms of where to get reasonably priced sensors I've seen Denso being mentioned, are there any other recommendations out there and if so does anyone no of a particular part number as I'd hate to order the wrong one. What tools would I need, am I right in thinking a 22mm open ended spanner would be needed. Any assistance would be gratefully received.

Car's in with Mr T at the mo having the fuel pipe replaced as part of their voluntary recall so should get it back all nicely washed and cleaned.

Thanking all in advance.

What a coincidence! I ran a fault code reader on mine today (no EML light at all as bulb must have been taken out!) and it came up with a faulty O2 sensor! Mine was also at Toyota yesterday having the recall work done to the fuel pipe :)

From what I've been reading on here, there are two different sensors - one for pre-cat and one for post-cat. I looked on eurocarparts and they only seem to list two O2 sensors for the 2.0 Avensis, one for pre and one for post cat, so I doubt you can go far wrong.

What are your symptoms? Mine seems to drive ok and MPG is fine although it is very slightly juddery when it's cold sometimes which may be related.

Hi

i don't really have any symptoms, the car runs beautifully and I've not noticed any increase in fuel being used. My code reader said it was bank 1 sensor 1 and i was under the impression that there were 2 pre cat and 2 post cat sensors...hence bank 1&2 maybe I'm wrong and this is why I wanted to check. The easy option is just to take it to my local garage and let them sort it out but as I've just been made redundant I wanted to try and save as much cash as possible.

I believe its the heater within the sensor thats faulty according to the code and i would assume that this would affect the emissions but again I'm not sure, hence coming on here to seek advice.

Yes, there are 4 sensors. The two pre-cat sensors (sensor 1) should be the same on either bank from what I've read. The two post-cat sensors (sensor 2) should also be the same on both banks.

I read something about there being a difference in threads/fixing but I don't that related to the 2.0 but I'm not sure.

I'll be testing the resistance on my sensors to check if they're faulty before replacing them.

Hi all

Got my car back from mr T after the fuel pipe replacement together with the results of a free inspection. Looks like now I need to replace the discs and pads which I guess is going to hurt the wallet. Anyone got any idea where I can get a workshop manual for a 2ltr t spirit on a 53 plate?

Cheers

Al
