Does anyone know the performance specs of this car.

And does anyone know what engine it has and what the chassis number it is. I assume that it is a Corolla 1.6 GTi-16 AE92? and with a 4AGE engine??

Cheers!!

- Oh yeah its an end of year 1988 model if that helps too

Yeah had one for a yr.

Engine_4AGE (122/129Bhp)

0 - 60_8.2sec's

Top Speed_123Mph (Had about 135Mph)

1/4 mile_16.4sec's

One thing to watch for 1988 - 1990 are early spec and 1990 - 1992 are late spec with an extra 7Bhp and higher rev limit.

Anything else just ask

Cheers your a star. I was sooooo confused :o as to what engine it is and what chassis it is. Cheers!! :D

By the way, which one is better, the later model or the earlier one, like which one has better performance ?(i might get the later one if it has better performance)

The earlier model has the T-VIS in it right?

Cheers!!

1990 onwards is the one you want, non Tvis 4age rev's to 8200 will do it all day long with out a murmer, extremely sensitive to simple tuning (filter, xorst, chip) better handling with uprated bushings and shocks a real delight to drive....

plus all the refinements of top end car to boot.

And when the 129bhp (stock) is not enough drop in a 4agze (supercharged) and when that gets dull replace the supercharger with a turbo or go all out and install a TWIN CHARGE kit ;) (dont force induce an stock 4AGE though they dont last too long)

If i do want to get something like that, would all i need to do is to get the engine????

Well except for the uprated suspension and stuff, which i could easily uprate with aftermarket parts...right???

Cheers for the info tho!

TVIS is a set of butterflies that close off one of the intake valve ports below 4500 rpm to increase air flow and fuel atomisation. They are operated by manifold vacuum. Engines without TVIS (ie post 89.5 red Tops) have smaller intake ports.

Kinda like a basic VVT set up that keeps the torque in a useable curve at lower revs, there is no need for this on the later heads :)

to go along with my post earlier about intakes and exhausts, the next on my list would be vernier gears and bigger cam duration, stock you have 240' but up the cams to 264' and you should push the 4age to about 150+ bhp - any bigger and you'll need and aftermarket computer as the stock map is at its limit here.

for loads of good reference stuff take a look here:

http://www.billzilla.org/4agmods.htm

Also referring to Exhausts dont go any bigger than 2.5" infact 48mm (just under 2") is deemed the absolute best size for a 4age with simple filter etc. If you go 2.5" in aticipation of cams etc expect a nasty Drone at motorway speeds (which drops off at about 72mph to almost silent running ??) not sure why.

you all seem to know a lot about corollas and 4A-GE/Z series engines.

could u solve this:

i got a toyota corolla XL liftback '90 (looks like the AE92 lifback) more or less, it has a 2E engine.

Would a 4A-GE engine fit in easily (as in engine mouts, etc), if not, what higher spec engines fit, ( i mean a 2E engine is so flippin stupid in this chassis).
