hi everyone ive put and air filter on my car its improved the 1st 2nd and 3rd gear times by 5 what else could i do to make the car go even faster in 4th and 5th?

Things obviously change over time and whilst we try to keep an accurate record we do get things wrong (let us know if we have), but when we wrote this article our database shows that the highest power Carina would be the Carina 2.0 GTi 4d with power of upto 155bhp (depending on the year),. so this goes to show the tuning potential of the Carina 2.0 GLi.

If you focus on quality mods, like cams, headwork including porting and polishing and a remap along with PROPER breathing mods you could see a power figure of between 170.5bhp to 232.5bhp with mods ranging from a few subtle add ons to a full engine rebuild! Obviously the higher you go the more risk there is of reliability issues.

The Car Reference (CarRef) guide suggest that you should do an engine swap with a 155bhp Carina. The already BHP endowed range of Carinas reward tuners with a satisfying power gain. The most frequent modification we see on the Carina include sports exhausts, air intakes or induction kits and a fuel pressure boost valve.

A fast road cam will make quite a difference to the peak power of your Carina. Getting better flow through the head of the engine would reward your Carina with more power. So get the engine head polished and ported.

The Carina come with power figures of upto 155bhp as per the Carina E Saloon If you apply a few tuning mods to this model of Carina you will see power gains from anywhere between 170.5bhp to 217bhp.

The price of high power levels is paid in unreliability and you would expect to rebuild a car often pushed to these kinds of limits .

Suspension improvements can dramatically increase the road holding and cornering of your Carina 2.0 GLi.

Although lowering your car and uprating the springs can improve handling this should not be overdone and you should stick to a drop of 35mm.
