Nice one - it's a shame that I lost my stickers :(

Ah that's a bugger..

Put the car up on the ramps at work today as I heard a click when I pulled foward. It wasn't bad or anything, just something I never heard before, it seems it's the near side CV boot has split. So that's being done on the 11th of October along with adjusting up the handbrake etc.

You're certainly keeping on top of this motor Paul - it's looking good as usual. What was the quote for the front bumper and/or the complete respray? could they not just do the roof?

Posted

Well my friend said he would cut out the parts I pointed out and but in some matching mesh, strip it back, give it a propper respray for about £250.. The whole car would be near £1000..

As I said I'm not doing much until after the Christmas holiday as I have to much to do around the house and work.. but it will get done

Yesterday I took the girlfriend out to Forde Abby in Somerset, it was a nice drive and I did some 200+ miles. Connie didn't miss a beat, and I was pleased with just how easy she is to drive

Picture002.jpg

I took over 90 photos of Forde Abby, it was a nice day out, I would of preffered it to of been a castle, but hey ho it was the girlfriends choice.

As for Connie, well not much of an update, I waxed her the other day, even the front bumper looked red(ish) which was good. I also added a little Corolla WRC sticker lol..

Cleanish after the trip.

A few dead flies, but not to bad.

So I have my girlfriends birthday on Tuesday, all her presents are wrapped and ready for tomorrow morning, I have all ready ordered the familys Chrimbo presents, so after the end of this month I can't start work on the car

Good times..

Maybe it's just me but that TTE Badge really does set the front off nicely!

So are you going down the "make it the best it can be" body-wise route and think about the performance upgrades at a later date now?

Posted

Still looking good fella! Nice pictures

I'm not a show and shine person as I do tend to use my cars  but I would like the front bumper and rear wing to look less pink or cracked lol..

Then I will get some things fixed, i.e. cv boot next Tuesday, handbrake adjustment, possible new or bigger brakes. The thing I don't want to do is spend twice, i.e buy some shocks and springs, then uprate or tune the engine, only to have to replace them with different ones etc.

The dash flock is something I want to do due to me getting to much reflection on the inside of the windscreen in the sunshine, common problem I find with most cars.

I would like to have the WRC kit fitted, but wouldn't do it with just a 109bhp engine in it.. An engine swap wouldn't happen until around June time next year.. but I have 3 lines of thought..

1. Keep the car looking as it is, but just tighten the suspenion, breaks etc

2. Keep the car looking OEM, but tighten the suspenions, breaks and fit a monster 200-300bhp engine etc

3. Go the whole hog and fit a 2L turbo engine and WRC kit, along with possible 4wd...

I think the costs are around:

1. £2-£3k

2. £2-£6k

3. £5-£10k :-(

Crazy money, and a few friends have said "Why not just buy an Evo or Scoob" my answer is "Which is more fun, passing someone in a car that everyone expects to be quick, or driving my granny car and making the world smile"

looks like a real nice car mate real tidy :) liking it alot in red i will defiantly keep an eye on this thread as its a beauty :) also i remember you saying on my post about how your considering a 4a-ge engine in yours i should have mine in soon so if you need a hand with anything ill try to help mate :). Also perhaps the best statement here is about the corolla being a granny car :P the seats in mine are super granny!

Posted

Thanks Luke, I do enjoy the granny car

I would like to change the engine in mine, and I had saved 90% of the money to have it done, but a few things needed to be done around the house, so it's been put back a few months. Thank you for the offer of information, and yes I will tap you up when the time comes

Posted

are you going for just a normal 4a-ge? 16v or going for a silvertop or blacktop im gonna head all out for the blacktop :)

I was actually looking at having a 4th generation 3S-GTE 2L turbo engine fitted, but I was getting quotes of £5k + so I may just go the normally assperated route and look at silver or black tops..

Put basically I want something that is happy doing my 5 mile trip to work and back, but also will pull my face off if needed.. tuff call really

So my gf's birthday has come and gone :yahoo: , it was a good day/night  She enjoyed her gifts, so after the end of this month (Crimbo presents) I can begin my car parts order

Can I removed the oranage in these lights ?

2-2.jpg

I may change the side repeaters as well.

4-2.jpg

She is still shinny.

3-2.jpg

Must stop adding stickers :censor:

She's looking really good! And yes you can purchase non tinted bulbs that are still orange, I personally went for blue tints and I love them but they'd look shite on a red car.

Go clear with orange flash and they'll look sweet!

As for side repeaters, just look at what manufacturers are fitting and pick what you like. I actually got an aftermarket version of a Hyundai Coupe's Side Repeaters! :D

One of the first things i did to my facelift was to remove the "fried egg"

Search on eBay for silvertec indicator bulbs, youll need offset pinned ones :)

Posted

I got my front indicator bulbs from Euro Car Parts, cracking deal and service, see my post for the details.

Thanks for the tips guys, I'm out and about tomorrow so may pay a visit to Halfruads... as they do the Silver Tec 581 bulbs, there £3.90 more than eBay, but if I'm passing the door I might as well. Also had a look on fensport and they do side repeaters as well

Posted

Well I checked online with Halfords and all 3 of my nearest stores had the Silver 581 bulbs in stock, so after driving 22 miles to get there I was greated by the news that they don't do them. After pointing out that online it shows there branch as having them in stock, they said they don't stock them and I should try Euro Car Parts...

So I've sent a rather EPIC email to there customer complaints department as I wasn't too please lol..

Still I did buy some new trainers.. got a bit of a collection going lol..

air.jpg

Last night I ordered my Ultra Racing upper front strut brace, so will wait and see when that gets here.. and I'm looking at side indicators online at this very moment. Still the 44 mile round trip was fun.

Posted

The thing about the bulbs is a little crappy but I guess there are worse things that it could have been, take engine bearings for example...:thumbsup:

Any chance of you taking a few more porn snaps of the 'rolla? I never really get the chance to have a properly good look at these in one piece lol

Engine bearings.. sounds a nightmare ?

As for photos, yeah will take some soon

Posted
