Rav4 T180 - Does It Come With A Puncture Repair Kit?

Hi all,

After purchasing my T180 on Saturday & reading the manual whilst also doing lots of reading on here, I have the following question:

Should/does the T180 come with a puncture repair kit or does it just have run flats?

I am confused based upon the folliowing information:

  • The Toyota dealer that I bought it from advises that it just has run flats & therefore no puncture repair kit.
  • The owners manual states that all RAV4's without a spare wheel have puncture repair kit consisting of a compressor, sealant, etc.
  • Much of the reading I have done on here seems to refrence puncture repair kits and others have bought spare wheels.

So, should I have one or is the dealer just fobbing me off?

Thanks

Martin

No, this model has the BSR (support rings). You do not neeed any puncture repair eqiupment. DO NOT put any tyre sealent through the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System as this is likely to do irepairable damage to the tyre valve etc. Only the xtr models with no spare wheel use the Tyre Gunk and compressor.

And dont forget not to drive the car. If you do this you will wear the tyres down and maybe even risk a puncture. If this happens, make sure you are within 50 miles of a Toyota dealer who has the equipment to change the tyre. If you need a new tyre you have to buy the tyre (ovbviously) for approx £150, then have it fitted using the very special equipment only found in a handful of dealers. Then if they damage the support ring, which they often do, add another £100 pound to the bill. Then if you have a faulty valve or like me a corroded one, you have to pay another £150 for a new valve and have them program it into the cars ecu thingy. Yes its a wonderful system that Toyota came up with. I was very happy to be their guinnea pig for this experiment. NOT
