Battery Warning Light

Sorry if this has been covered before my 05 avensis verso is doing my head in im having problems with the Battery warning light coming on when cold if i rev the engine up or pick up speed over 60 it goes out then when cold its back any advice would be gratefully received.

any sign of a squeeking sound after starting up,could be slack/slipping belt that drives alternator

Can't say iv noticed a noise

thats ok,but check the belt anyway.

Battery warning light signifies a fault in the charging system. A squealing sound when cold would point towards a slack belt. Otherwise your alternator or Battery might be on the way out. If you have a test meter check what voltage you have at the Battery with engine running and battery light on. If the voltage is below about 12 volts the the alternator isn't charging.
