My Avensis Xreg 2000 1.8 vvti GLS

Failed MOT,

due to Exhaust Emissions co2, hydrocarbon and Lambda reading are outside the normal limits.

Nearside/Offside Direction Indicators are incorrect colour

I can't believe this!

Never had problem with my sweet car.

the only thing I have done differently from last year was topped- up 2 times with oil from Halfords.

New Exhauster since last couple of years

can some one tell me what can be the reason?

also can some one suggest what can be done to pas the MOT

?Service

?oil change etc..

many thanks

Sounds like it's overfuelling. Maybe an O2 sensor issue?

Is your engine management light on at all?

it pays to give the car a good blast just before dropping off for mot.

if its been used for short, low speed trips this will help.

not saying this is the problem here, but its good practice

Is this the first MOT since the new exhaust was fitted?

It may be something simple like a sensor not fitted correctly in the new exhaust.

I'm told that changing the oil can help. One thing that has worked for me is removing the air filter just before the test. Of course, sounding like a broken record, paying for a professional diagnosis can save a fortune in the long run.

spark plugs also pay a huge part in this aswell so dont forget them.......

i had a corolla in for mot and the hc and co were through the roof...changed the plugs boom passed no problem
