Toyota Sticker Fix

When I bought my wife her Yaris new back in 2004, it came with a pack of these supposedly "invisible" patches in a range of shapes and sizes. We've found them to be very poor in use and on a metallic finish (our little Yaris is a dark metallic green) they really show up and stick out like a sore thumb. Maybe they'll be better on a solid colour.

If they are relaunching them, I do hope they are vastly improved. I'd sooner stay with a touch paint and a cocktail stick...

I was going to say much the same. The product is not even a new invention. I do hope they are amazing, but I am extremely sceptical and would worry if these stickers are permanent it would be tough to get shot of if they do look crap, and if they are not permanent, then how good would they be when you clean the car.

I always thought a good idea would be to have a transfer instead of a sticker, where you can rub off the excess so the paint is only in the scratch, and then some way to apply a thin coat of sealant.

I've not seen any stickerfix yet but I'm sure it will be a big improvement on the type provided 6 or 7 years ago. To me it looks a far thinner film of paint than the original stuff, hopefully it wont have a "thick edge" for polish to get stuck

Kingo

Hmmm.......a bit like the old 'Letraset' transfer lettering.

hi

anybody actually used this stuff yet, as some donkey seems to have dinged me decuma grey iq3 and left a couple of minute dents on the front n/side pillar, very annoying.

Atkiman, I think your colour is available now. I would use it as a short-term fix. If it was a scratch OK but a dent is a different kettle of fish.I am led to believe it is not cheap.I have tried it and it is a lot better product than some of the posts lead you to believe (defo not £1 shop)

Fill/layer scratch with the correct touch up paint until the paint is just below the surface of the area around it The add laquer until it stands slightly proud of the area around it. Then wetsand the repair with Meguires 3000 grade Unigrit paper to a flat surface matching the area around it then polish with Menzerna PO85RD 3.02 or similar . Job done... A true invisible repair can be done to minor scratches and stone chips big and small using this method..HTH..

hi

dent is probably making it too grand a description , dinged with the bottom of a handbag i think. So I've got the minutest of a slight dent with a round , size of a large pin head bit of paint missing and a small scratch. It's the kind of 'dont see it till you wash it , now it's irritating me' kind of damage which doesn't warrant a lot of dosh and work. I've used the toyota touch up paint on the RAV and for the size of problem I've got a small paint swatch'll do it, no problem.

I do remember the same kind of gear going around about in the 80's and 90's , i think i actually remember trying it. just thought they might have improved on it.
