Hi Patrick and welcome to the club

You've bought a fine motor there. Can you update your profile so we know what version you have - petrol or diesel etc.

Consumption does seem low but are you going by the computer readout or by calculation 'brim to brim'?

Hi Patrick,

Mine's a new 'un too but seems to be doing over 40mpg, at least the display tells me it's managing over 15km to the litre, I think that's over 40mpg, it seems to be speed sensitive regarding fuel though, at 110/120kph it struggles to get 13km/ltr kept to 80 and it's over 15.

Do the UK models have a bar (no NOT a pub bar) on the display that lights up with the fuel consumption? On mine, the more light footed you are the more it lights up, under that is the averaged number of kms covered per litre, even if it's not accurate it's a useful guide.

I've bunged a dashboard pic on, dunno if it'll be visible though :( post-105988-0-59105800-1300959031_thumb.

On a 1000 mile journey, mostly motorway, and not exactly hanging about, I averaged 27 mpg (V-Power) on my 1999 4 door. Anything less than that I would suspect is seriously wrong!

Yes Uk models have this on to , its an Instant MPG readout i find it quite useful when im driving in an economical mood .

Patrick : Its maybe because the car is so new and you may not even be used to the throttle yet and try the tank to tank method instead of the OBC

Hi + welcome, one of our very clever members SHCM has a new rav150 diesel and at the end of each post he shows a graph of his MPG since purchase, actual consumption and consumption recorded by the OBC, here is a link to one of his posts, chosen at random,

LINK (post #2) you will see that the obc shows less mpg than he is actually getting, earlier ravs were the exact reverse of this, however we do not know at this stage if you have a petrol or a diesel? either way your mpg figure is very low  Stew

Thats good. My number 2 RAV is in the garage just now as the beast was reaching the dizzy heights of 16mpg during a fast run to Manchester. It normally reaches 20-22mpg on vpower so I knew something was wrong. And so it was. A couple of fairly minor problems which together caused the stock ecu to flood the engine with petrol.... hence its reluctance to reach more the 23" off the ground.

Glad to read that you are using vpower - a loving RAV owner who deserves a gold star for care and attention.

The first couple of years I had her she only just scraped through the MOT, then I decided to have a year on Optimax as it was then, and she sailed through! Performance is much better than with any other fuel, although I was forced to fill up at Tesco (Dorset hasn't got around to Shell yet!) and the trip back to Wakefield was as if it was V-Power in it! There's nothing in it pricewise now, so Shell V-Power stays - and the V-Power Drivers Club card gives a bit of kudos at the till! B)
