Rear Exhaust Silencer Box

Has anybody replaced a rear exhaust silencer box on a D4D (mines a 55 plate)? I don't trust the usual fitting places and want to do it myself. Is there a joint behind it or does the pipe need to be cut? Thanks for any advice.

It's all bolted on and hung in silencer blocks.

Carefully remove the old gasket and install a new gasket!

For that matter, never re-use old gaskets.

Spray the bolts the night before and it's a 1 hour job... if you take it easy. :)

a hour???what you doing??

ten mins max........if the casket stays on the middle pipe leave it...you can re use these gaskets again and again but some times they end up getting stuck in the back box in which case you replace it.....

the box is held on with two 14mm bolts remove these aslo theirs a few rubbers(spray with silicon spray)then pull off throw your old box away put the new one on job done..

Come on Ormi, it's a bit more than 10 mins on your drive at home with just a jack and a couple of axle stands!!!!!:crybaby:.

Ok, for those in a nice workshop with a ramp it may be 10 minutes ;) .

Pete.
