Seat Covers

Hi All,

Anybody found nice, well fitting seat covers for the current generation of RAV4s?

I can get the "fits everything from a 44tonne Renault Magnum to a Smart car" types here, and am really looking for something removeable, washable and looking as close to the original seats as possible, am in the UK in May so can sort out then, just need the info.

Toyota dealers in Spain don't keep anything (can't even get a handbook in English out of the gits) and we don't have a local Halfrauds :(

TIA

Do you have side airbags fitted in the seat?

If you do then you need to consider this when buying covers.

Oh bums, why didn't I think of that :(

Just been out and looked and there's cloth tabs on the side of the seats that say "SRS Side Air Bags" I take it that rules out seat covers then. Shame, I'd like to have kept the interior nice coz I tend to keep cars a long time, appreciate the comment though.

I don't know if you can get specific covers for car with SRS protection, but a normal cheap cover would be fine if you cut a slit along the edge?

After all, you don't really need to worry about the side of the seat getting dirty, just the main part that you sit in.

That should allow the airbag to delpoy (lets hope it never has to) and you to keep the seats clean.

Seat covers should not be fitted where side SRS air bags are fitted UNLESS they are specific to the car

Toyota do not do seat covers for this specific reason. even slitting the seams a little might cause a problem in the event of an accident, air bags go off and deflate in milliseconds, you wouldnt want something to stop them deploying

I didn't word my last post very well

I meant, cut the cover all the way up the side from the bottom to the top of the seat, allowing plenty of movement if the air bag should deploy.

Most decent quality seat-covers these days do have a facility for side airbags.

Indeed they do Clare, they have a special stitching which will burst open if the air bag deploys

I feel some sort of throw would be better, I don't like the idea of relying on the stitching having to give way in the event of an accident

Davey, don't worry, I often think my posts were not worded well, Ive got used to me by now
