Head For A Rev 3 3sge

Well we've had a look at the plug with the stripped thread and TBH it looks like a new head job, the plugs are buried so deeply into the head, that it would be impossible to drill out a new thread and put in an insert.

Anyone any idea how much a replacement head would cost? Is the 3SGE head the same on all of the vehicles Toyota used this engine in?

Cheers guys

Not sure on the cost of just the head but to put it in to perspective you'd probably be able to pick up an entire engine for £500 notes....I'll keep my eye out for you though.

Matt.

Matt, thanks for this :). I was beginning to think down the same lines. I have seen some engines of eBay for £200 but I don't like the fact that the quality of the engine is an unknown factor. You guys will know if it is a dud or not!! IF you see an engine, can you let me know? How easy is it to swap these? We've done Land Rovers and Range Rovers before, but as you well know, there is somewhat less room in a 2. Does the gearbox have to come out too? Or can it be seaprated from the engine prior to removal? If I can't get a rev3 engine will a rev1 or 2 work? I fear the loom etc. may be different and the ECU......
