Gen 7 Aircon Problem.. Blowing Hot Air

Hi Guys

My car has started blowing hot air from the fans, even when its on cold. the air con no longer works and blows hot air when turned on. the outside temp reader no longer works.

this all just happened at once, i.e working one minute then all of a sudden stopped working.

took it to Kwikfit, they recharged my aircon but to no avail, they said the compressor was done and i needed a new one.

anyone experienced something similar before? what else could be causing this? this happened around the same time my double DIN radio got installed at Halfords so could be related?

Any help very much appreciated

Thanks

I wouldn't condemn the compressor just yet...

The faulty temp readout may be related and as electrical work has been done (Halfords) it's impossible to say.

For the compressor to run several sensors have to give the correct inputs to the control unit. For example... is the outside temp not too cold (so could be related if it uses the faulty readout as info), are the pressure sensors in air con system giving correct info. Low or no gas and the sensor assumes a fault and inhibits the compressor. Is the elecro magnetic clutch receiving 12 volts when AC switched on ? All fuses OK ? and if not what caused it to blow.

The faulty outside reading would be my first area to investigate I think.

Good luck...
