Can some one advise me on how to change the brake pads as I have never changed them on the carina e. I need to know how the pins/clips holding the pads in place come out as I cant see how and dont want to cause any damage.

Get a workshop manual. Look very careful before how everything is mounted. Take pictures so you will be able to see how it was mounted when you have forgotten. If you still are worried to put things back in a faulty way ask someone to help you or teach you how to change the brake pads. Make only one side at the time. Finish the first side before you tear down the second side.

After you have removed the wheel you will be able to see the caliper. At the back of the caliper (engine side) there is two bolts i think the are 12mm remove these then, depending on how long since they were last changed you might need to get a old screwdriver and place it at the bottom underneath the caliper and lever it upwards to remove it. You will also need a large g cramp to wind the piston in so there is enough room to fit the new pads. Hope this helps.

they are 14mm just undo the bottom on and the caliper will swing up to get at the pads
