Tyres

Took my Gen3 into local ATS and advised that after 27,500 miles from new (first registered 1 April 2010) only the front two tyres needed to be replaced. The rear 2 still have approx half their original tread. I have to say that I am really impressed not least given that all my pevious vehicles have had 4 new tyres way before reaching 27,500. In fact it would average @ about 23,000. Have you all had similar success stories?

I got 20k out of the front set and was pleased with that. I used to get about 16k out of the Peugeot 406 diesel.

(They get more wear and tear in town use  )

Gen III is still on the first set of Michelin Primacy at just over 45,000. Tread depth is even and between 3mm and 4mm, so unlikely to make it beyond 50,000.

The Gen II is coming up to 90,000 on its second set. The original Bridgestones were replaced in two goes between 40,000 and 50,000. The replacement Michelin Energy Savers still have a lot of tread left, so should make 100,000 easily.

The Energy Savers look really good, and generate much less road noise than the Bridgestones. Pity they aren't available in 215/45-17.

27,500 miles?! Blimey, and I thought my Yaris got through tyres quickly

Was it being used on track days?!

I can only assume you were using really soft tyres or have a job like Cabbie's...?

Mine get worn down about 1mm a year, although it'll be interesting to see if the harder-compound Continentals I have on now wear slower or faster!
