Ipod Connection Kit For T180 - Is It Worth Bothering With?

Greeting all,

I have been doing a lot of reading on the ipod kit & various options available & want to understand if it is worth £150

I am probably going to repeat things that people already know but just so that I am clear here is my current understanding:

There are various kits - DICE, etc, including Toyota that enable you to connect your ipod to the existing satnav system but then treats the ipod as a cd autochanger, e.g.. disc 1-6, 7,-12 & so on but with no text so you have no idea what album or track that you are playing until it actaully plays. Also, if you are listening to say Led Zeppelin & the wife decides that she wants to listen to Take That then the process of getting from L to T is to click through the 150 albums in between until you eventually get to the right one :crybaby:

I have been offered a kit by a local car audio specialist for £145 fully fitted by I am wondering if I am better off continuing to change my CD's manually and putting the £145 towards a Lindop chip kt instead??

Or put all your Led Zep and the like on one MP3 CD, and another for Take That type of missus music  You could listen to one CD for a long time without changing (unless her indoors has other ideas) .............then buy a chip kit

I have got the IPOD kit, saves having a collection of disc in the cubby hole !!! If you dont mind not having all the data about the song then its good to have . I have about 15Gb of music on my Ipod and just relect random. Dont even bother updating the Ipod any more. !! Next is the chip for me !!

Funny enuff...........

I'm just emailing my supplier, I think there is one due out very soon. The box for the older 1.4 engine wont fit, as the new 1.4 is Euro 5 compliant and wont fit

Will keep you informed Clare

What discounts could you give for a bulk purchase & what would you class as a bulk purchase, e.g. 5 or more?

Any one interested?

There is no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid answers.

The stupid answer in this case is "iPod".

I picked up my T180 in December 20010 and just 2 weeks ago put a Lindop Chip on the car. I admit to being mechanically minded and it only took me 10 minutes to fit using the supplied idiots guide. But a non mechanical person would not struggle to fit this. Only lack of confidence would push your elsewhere to fit, and that is a good thing. If your not sure don't risk harming yourself or the vehicle. Get somone who knows what hes doing to fit it.

What can I say.... OMG it's only on setting number 6 (which was the original factory power setting on the original, non adjustable Lindop Chip) and it has transformed an excellent 4x4 into a perfect 4x4. The power pick up, torque and acceleration are very noticably improved and if you can find the patience to be gentle with the accelerator you have a good increase in fuel consumption. You have to work at being light on the accelerator as you still get better response from the "chipped" Rav4 by being light than you did from driving in your old style on your "pre-chipped" Rav4.

Thread for above
