Just bought a yaris last week. i noticed it scrapes the ground from underneath somewhere when there are 2 ppl sitting in the back especially when going on hills and over bumps. anyone have an idea what this could be?

Are you sure it's the ground it's scraping on and not the body hitting the rear wheels? Has it got lowered suspension or wide alloys fitted? Also check the back springs in case they are knackered or broken

I'd be more biased towards the wheels rubbing on the arches.

So as the poster above has pointed out, Standard Wheels and Standard Suspension? Or is it 2 lardies in the back?

It would have to be seriously overloaded for the car to be hitting the road surface.

As you can see, nothing is close to the ground.

This was the Lowering kit I used to get it that low.

The Yaris has very high ground clearance compared to most cars in the size class so I'm surprised if you were getting it to bottom out!

I have had some problems with the front under-flap thingy hitting the ground on some of the more ridiculous speed-humps in the places I drive, but I've had my Mk1 fully loaded with luggage and 5 people and it's not even come close to bottoming out!

I assume you've made sure there's not something hanging down underneath...?

ur right, its the wheels scraping the body. These arent the original wheels i they are sr wheels (thats what they say on them) and they might be bigger than the originals. And the springs seems to be the normal ones, not lowered. I got a mechanic to check the springs, charged me £30 and told me he fixed it! Ive noticed that when the car is full there is a metal thing sticking out from the rear bumper which touches the back right wheel. this metal thing doesnt exist on the left side.

pictures are without any load in the back
