Paint Scratch

As above, except I come back to find it on my rear bumper, and no car around with a scratch on it! Looks like a trolley or similar, I will upload pictures later today.

Anyone know if Toyota can repair things like this? I've had the car 5 months so any chance they may (out of sympathy) offer a reduced fee for the paint repair? In the past Honda took the S2K in for scratches and repaired for free as I hadn't had the car longer than 6 months... any chance of that with Toyota?

Really quite upset :(

I sympathise with you pal. My wife's Aygo had the door dented in our local Tescos car park. The size of a 5p piece and very shallow, if you didn't know it was there you would probably miss it BUT, thats not the point, just because you don't care there is no need to treat other peoples property with contempt. It seems people have neither manners nor thought for others these days, and it's no particular age group either!

As for the repair, it's worth a try but i doubt you will get anything other than sympathy.

Good luck though and keep in mind that it may happen to their car one day

Toyota will repair if they have body shop on site. They may also use 3rd party to do it but in both cases they most likely will paint the whole panel= high price. You may use your local scratch repair service.

Also scratched at the bottom.

I have sent an email to an independent SMART chip & scratch repairer to see if he can help.

I doubt it will be done for free, some scroat reversed into the door in my Verso and made two massive dents in it a few months back, was very lucky not to have needed a new door, still cost me a fortune to fix it

A SMART repairer will be able to sort that quite easily, get a couple of quotes

Just a thought, i wonder how cooperative Tesco would be if you asked to see their cctv??

From the experience of our customers, "Not very" They get all sorts of excuses, only the Police can view it, data protection, health and safety, all those standard excuses. Too much trouble would probably be the best answer, good luck asking though

Good idea in theory, but having worked closely with Police for the past 2 years, and having requested CCTV footage from Tesco before, the only way to get the footage released is through freedom of information (they hunt through and send you the clip you are after, if they can be bothered to find it, otherwise it was never caught), or the police can provide evidence to support that a crime will have been committed in the cameras view.

More hassle than I can be bothered with personally, getting a quote from Toyota and a SMART guy this weekend (emailed them both pics) so see who is cheaper ;)

OUCH,carparks are the place i dread parking in.the worst is windy days when an idiot opens their door and lets go of it,then the wind catches the door and slams into your door. another is kids in the back seat who open the door to its limit when gettingb out and their door hits yours.

hope you get damage sorted without too much expense.

did you sort your indicator relay ok.

Just had a quote from the independent SMART repairer, £130 he reckons, but the price may drop depending on how long it takes, and the price is capped at that price.

Just waiting to see what Toyota can do it for...

And no not yet, work has been hell lately with it being the end of the financial year, but hoping to take a look soon.

I wouldn't hold your breath on Toyota giving you a fair price. Someone keyed my Yaris along the passenger door and they gave me an estimate of around £300 to paint the side of the car, then they sent me a proper quote through the post which somehow managed to be £120 more! I hope that estimator didn't keep his job for too long.

Anyway, I got it done by a local body repair shop who do work for insurance companies for £180 and it was superb, people were even commenting on how good that side of my car looked!

Not bad for £7!

You wouldn't see it unless you knew it was there and were looking for it :)

It shows if the sun is on it right, impossible to blend it entirely but enough for me to be happy with it. Not a chance as not enough people take "pride in their ride" as my neighbour says

EDIT: Before and After below, makes it a little easier to see how much worse it was!

It is an improvement, but i couldn't live with that personally, and would pay a professional to do it properly.

A company like 'chipsaway' could probably have done that for £60 and you would not see it even if you were looking for it.

They quoted me £180 for it, so didn't even consider them. I may just replace the bumper as its cheaper but for now I can't be bothered :)

A rear bumper, plus spraying, plus fitting is cheaper than £180 to repair it?

Where are you getting your parts from?
