Hi,

I'm sure I'm not the first to struggle replacing a broken belt.

how do you move the tensioner? Is a special tool needed?

It's a nice sunny day I expect you are all out in the countryside while I lie on my back under the ramps :crybaby:

Hi Rich, this has been covered before as I found when I changed mine.

I think it was a covered under "air conditioning-drive belt" Try the search function as this is where I found the information which enabled me to carry on.

The tensioner does take a fair bit of moving as you will now know and a special tool part No 09249-63010 is available but I used a cut down socket and a long bar which did the job.

Also check that the tensioner and water pump is OK before fitting the new belt.

Best of luck.

Thanks Del, You were right it did require some force, I was using a cranked ring spanner and a tube, but the 19mm nut thing rounded!!!!!! It did have a bit of play in its bushes.... but now I can't get the thing off because one of the bolts holding it on is so long it fouls on the chassis.

Think this job will go on and on......Could it be the belt I have is too short? the one that came off was perished but measured 1945 long....sites I looked on said belt should be 7PK1920 and I assumed old belt had stretched. Will get a belt and tensioner from Parts King and try again next week if I can get the old one off that is!

Rich,just found the invoice for my belt and it states 7PK 1933.

That was a tight fit and a struggle to put on,don't think I could have got a 1920 on at all!!

Ahh, the ingenuity of man, to think it all started with a monkey picking up a stone or stick to use as a tool.

Before anyone asks,no,I wasn't there :angry::angry:
