Hi,

Since I've had my Aygo I have, on two occasions, parked it, having left it in gear.

Both times I've eventually managed to get the car into neutral and been able to start it - BUT I don't know how I did it!

Can somebody please tell me the secret?

TIA

Easy peasey!!!

Get in - put foot on footbrake and ignition key in and turn to 'aux' - move shift lever to N and start car.

We ALWAYS leave in R as dont want he handbrake to seize as has happened to us in the past with other cars.

The above is therefore normal to us.

Thank you!

I'll put a note in my phone - I'm bound to forget.

I'll second that.

My house has a flat drive so when I stop, I leave the gear lever in "E" or "R" and

turn off the ignition. I can then leave my Aygo with the handbrake off.

As above, to start the Aygo, turn on ignition so all the warning lights come on,

foot on brake, lever into "N" and start car.

With foot still on brake, select "E" or "R", foot off brake and set off.

Don't worry Cyker, we know what we're talking about

(op has an mmt Aygo, leave it in gear and you can't start it, leave it in gear and unless the ignition is on you can't get it out of gear! Vicious circle!)

Oh duh, of course the MMT would need power in order to work!

I was thinking "Can't you just put it in neutral? Am I missing something obvious here?"

We ALWAYS leave in R as dont want he handbrake to seize as has happened to us in the past with other cars.

On such a new car, the handbrake shouldn't bind. If it does, then it needs I would suggest it needs to be checked. Also, by not using the handbrake, you run the risk of the car failing its first MOT.

Regardless of the cars, we always use the handbrakes in all our cars and have never had any issues with binding/MOT failures etc.

Not having a go, just my 2p worth.

Specifically we had driven to Heathrow in the heaviest downpour I can remember. We left the car for 2 weeks while we were in Canada and when we came back the handbrake had sruck on! Not I hasten to add on the Aygo, but on the wife's old Alto... 3 years old when it happened and we had 2 mot's after that which it sailed through.

very embarassing to have to rock a 3 year old car to free a stuck brake shoe!!

 I have heard of this before on the Aygo for those that decide to wash their car but then park it up and not use it. Needed just a good ol'blip of power to get it un-stuck I believe.
