Are Rav 4's Selling?

Hello lovely peeps! :group-cuddles:

I haven't really been in as nothing ever goes wrong with my Rav! Been out and about enjoying it!

Unfortunately I may have to part with it - I don't want to, but my office is moving to the centre of London and I will have to commute in by rail, so can't justify having such a nice car that I don't use. :cacker: I am still trying to persuade Meldrew that it would be nice to keep for high days and holidays, but I have the campervan for that, so the argument is falling on stoney ground...

I have been looking on Autotrader and evilbay, the prices seem to be astonishingly healthy (I have a '55 plate, 5 door petrol XT4 with 46k on the clock).

My question is this - are any of these cars selling for the sort of prices advertised? (8.5k to 9.5k):ermm:

If I do put it on, I want it to sell, not to hang about looking pretty (it does) and earning auto trader money...

Thanks peeps. :flowers:

From what ive noticed, decent ravs r selling very fast from forecourts. Not sure about privately.

The were as rare as hens teeth in and around Aberdeenshire during and after the snow. I know as I bought mine then. The dealers were asking £1000 over the normal price when they could find them to sell.

I am not sure what they are going for now, but I still see a big lack of most RAV4 sized 4x4's on the forecourts. So maybe it's worth trying North of the border.

I placed an advert on the on-line AutoTrader on a recent Saturday afternoon.

I had 3 phone calls on Sunday.

Sold to the first viewer on Monday.

Forget Parkers etc. You need to see what the market is doing and price accordingly. But even the delaers are saying they are going fast.

Sad to see my T180 gone, but got a 2010 BMW Touring with similar 177bhp engine and an extremely smooth 6 speed semi-automatic gearbox. After clunky 1st/ 2nd RAV gear change, I'm back to enjoying driving again.

Oh, and tyre pressure monitoring on the ABS sensor, so you can swap tyres and alloys with no problems. Need to get a set of snow tyres though.

And did get 55mpg recently. Can get a range of over 800 miles on one tank.

Do miss the T180's keyless entry and start though.

I'll wait and see what Toyota do in 2012.

Wait until the snow hits ..........

Seriously, snow tyres all round on a rear wheel drive car are better than a 4WD without snow tyres.

I know a BMW 1 series car in the Borders who was ploughing the way forward through the snow when shod with snow tyres.

4WD is over-rated (LOL - now that I don't have one).

Hang on a bit.................a rear wheel drive BMW able to move forward in the snow? have you been drinking :lol:

I do have to say that winter tyres are SUPERB I don't know why we don't sell more of them in this country, the improved stopping distance is unbelievable

Kingo

Okay - these kill two birds with one:

1. Demos of Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D tyres for Lupidog

2. On RWD BMWs.

And of course, the Tire Rack demo was done with RWD BMWs:

A friend in Switzerland with a Merc has summer tyres on one set of wheels and winter tyres on another set of wheels. There are numerous garages that store the set not being used. But I don't get the impression that many (if any) garages do that in the UK -and it would be quite a job getting five wheels to and from a garage who can swap the wheels around. Is there in fact much storage of wheels by garages?

Kwik-Fit do offer the storage service, especially for corporate accounts - but I wouldn't trust them with my own set. And no idea of the cost.

With a dog guard up, you can just get 4 x T180 wheels in the back and shut the door. If you've no room, just find a local garage to swap them over and do a couple of runs.

The things you need to do if you sell your RAV - getting back on topic :)

I would have actually made money on my Rav, if it didnt get CAT D`ed.

Looking at the prices today I would have made around 3K now that is not bad for a second hand car that I bought 2 years ago. The price has actually gone up.

You try and find a 55 plate 4.2 XT5, Rocking horse poo springs to mind. where are they all? were many made? 10k upwards at a dealer, have seen them for 7 to 8k private.

Not sure of the value of it now as it is recorded as Cat D. But I`m not to worried as its my daily driver again, and stands me at half the private selling price.

I drive bmw 330s and 530s at work and they were terrible in the snow - even with snow tires fitted. Admittedly the snow tires do help, but they still aint a solution for severe weather - or an alternative to a 4x4.

Plus, you cant go over 130 mph so whats the point!? :!Removed!:

I thought that - the prices are fab! :yahoo:

I have a tiny little parking scrape I am going to have attended to (my car was parked in the street, I wasn't parking it) which may or may not polish out, then I am going to bung it on auto trader. I do love it though and will be sad to see it go, I would definitely get another one if I ever needed another nice car. I am thinking about the £8,495ovno region and see what happens.

One thing I did notice was the difference in value holding between our cars and the likes of the Honda CRV; you can pick up a newish model CRV for peanuts! I definitely made the right choice! Just wondering if it's going to be warm enough to get the flossy bikini on and give it one last summer wash before it goes - been 22 degrees down here this week! B)

A newish crv for peanuts!? Erm, no. We were looking at them and the prices r comparable with ravs. Unless u go for the base level SE model.

I agree crv's. Rav 4's landrover freelander's. All similar asking prices but very healthy asking prices.

The price changes when you look at base models.

But then all a rav4 xt5 has different is the sat nav. Which in my opinion is pants. I,d have a tomtom any day.

Leather is easy to install also.

So why the big price hike for a few extras I have no idea.

We bought our 2008 2.2 D4D Rav4 XTR with average miles and full leather for under £16k from a Toyota dealership last month. I thought that was a great price.

A similar spec'd CRV wud cost far more.

Looking on the trader, they seem to hold value well at the moment. I can't find one the same as mine for what I paid for it last august...

Toyota dealerships add at least 2k to the private value price. I would never let a dealership pull my pants down.

Depends on what they were dealing...
