I am thinking that in order to truly represent TOC there should be more than 2 Toyota models on the stand, should there not be I am afraid it would not be worthwhile

Totally agree Steve, I have put a post on the Celica forums but as far as I know so far we have had no reply, haven't done the others yet as I don't want to flood everyone with my posts, if you wouldn't mind posting in a few too to see if we can get any response that would be a great help

I have had a count up of the views of the threads regarding JAE in the individual car forums

Auris - 71

Avensis - 56

Aygo - 63

Carina - 16

Celica - 56

IQ - 77

MR2 - 21

Paseo - 10

Supra - 12

Yaris - 26

RAV - 124

Hilux - 14

Landcruiser - 16

Prius - 78

Verso - 28

Urban Cruiser - 20

This totals 688 views and the only member considerate to put their name forward, so far, is jjj_aygo

I consider this to be utterly disgusting for a club with so many active members

What the :censor: are we bothering for if this is the measure of interest :crybaby:

I have come to the frame of mind that the idea of TOC attending JAE this year is dead so I'll simply turn up as a spectator :(

If someone wants to organise a stand for this year I will happily attend and give my support by displaying my car. If Hou and Gaz don't undertake this task then I will understand the reasons

I agree - I think we could have a great stand next year if we plan ahead a bit, :toast: but this year is dead.

As I'm not affiliated with any other Jap car club (unlike other people  ) I won't be attending - its just not worth it financially. :crybaby:

Shocking! Most people seem to come on the forum to ask questions rather than actually contribute

Yes.... sadly you are correct :(

I am off on holiday next month and am away for 3 weeks.... I will review the situation depending on the degree of support at that time

Steve,

I have spoken to a few members on here and most are going with other clubs, it appears that TOC is more fragmented than the smaller forums dotted around. It certainly seems that a large number of people on here think the horse as died and there isn't any point in flogging it. I have kept an eye on the posts you have made and noted the number of views compared to the number of posts. I was well up for this and would have relished the challenge to put this together and make it happen.

To be honest I would have probably paid for an extra car or two if we were a few cars short but I just don't see the point, certainly for this year anyway. I would consider trying to put something together for next year, but we will just have to see.

Lets hope the members next year have a little more enthusiasm and we can make something work, for this year I think we should just let it go as I just don't think we will get there

Sorry guys i would loved to have come and had my Auris there but i live in Scotland and cannot get down and back for work in time .

The JAE shows get planned and mentioned the day after the current years show, so there is no excuse for it. Something pretty dire has happened here at TOC and I don't know what. :(

Whilst i can appreciate the frustration over the last couple of pages, you only have to read the first page to understand why some members may not be willing to attend.

Some of the first couple of posts mention 'Bitchy comments' from TOC staff, and a 'Take it or leave it' style reply from an event organiser.

It sets a negative tone, and although its probably nothing to do with anyone in this thread, and probably doesn't give a true reflection of the members on the whole, it is something that might put people off turning up.

I've only attended one forum meet in the last 10 yrs, and i didn't enjoy it. That was mostly down to the fact that the forum owner was a complete tool, and people were making excuses to leave early.

Although i don't expect this sort of behaviour from all forum members, it has put me off spending my spare time meeting strangers, when i could use that time to enjoy the company of people i know and like.

This is not meant to stir up trouble, offend, or point the finger, its just a point of view from ONE member.

Posted

Agreed....

Generally every TOC meet i have been to has always been good fun, the people that have attended have always been in good spirits and you do leave the events after making new friends (not just a username!)

JAE last year was a good laugh and everybody enjoyed it.... the only thing that spoiled it for me were comments made after the event... it's a real kick in the nuts when everybody has said to your face that they've enjoyed themselves then once behind a keyboard they are completely different (although one member who didn't even attend saw fit to complain!)

I have been to every JAE since 2007 with TOC... i don't have another club i can go with... but there needs to be some decent interest from here before i decide if i'm going to organise anything

Posted

Hmmm... well I know that myself, Leeky and a friend is coming along and going on the TOC stand...

So that's:

Celica Gen6 GT-Four

Celica Gen6 ST185 (I think?)

MKIV Supra Aerotop (Me)

If it's not going ahead though, or there really are only going to be a couple of people on the stand, I'm not sure...

Sarcasm is the lowest form of whit but it won't affect you as you are only half of one ;) :P

I don't post up the fact that this "Toyota Owners Club" event is attended by a majority of Roadsters because I'm still under the illusion that after all these years of time, money and effort put into this club there might still be a chance of our members showing an interest.

I just wanted to post here seeing as I have been 'told off' for not being on your stand

Im not the only member with an IQ on TOC. For the past 2 and a half years I have owned my IQ and gone to shows, I have been the only one at the shows, for example Japfest yesterday. I cannot spread my car on multiple stands. I went to JAE with the Toyota Sprint Series last year and it was the best show I have ever been too. As I have gone to a couple of the rounds and got to know the guys at TSS, I consider them my friends and would like to show with them over anyone else if thats ok with you?

Most of the members on here with IQs only moan about them, its hard to find positive posts in the IQ subforum so I dont bother posting there anymore, I only come on to browse for anything remotely interesting. So I dont really want to socialise with members on here because tbh I find most members are cliquey and dont understand me or the car.

To try and put a guilt trip on me for not showing with you, only turns me off even more.

Who's done that?? mad.gif

Nobody should be guilt tripped into anything.... if you don't want to come to JAE with TOC that's fine.

A simple "hello" at JAE would be fine by me.... (if TOC attend that is)

Sorry but I just have to say it.... I think this is a perfect example of the lack of support towards TOC

Pheonix999 was only trying to whip up some support from TOC members!
