Warning Lights

Hi All,

I've had my T3 since Saturday and today noticed that the "SRS warning light" and the Battery light came on when I turned the engine off.

In the handbook it says that it's usual for all the lights to come on when you put the ignition on and the SRS warning light will go off after 6 seconds which it does. It alsi says that if the lights come on whilst driving then get it checked immediately..the strange thing is that it came on when I turned the ignition off after a drive, and then when I left it a few seconds, took the key out and switched it all back on again it didnt stay on yet when I turned it off again the engine malfunction light came on and so did the Battery one again!

I called Toyota and I am gonna take it down there tomorrow to get it checked but has anyone else experienced a problem like this? or am I just unlucky with cars?!?

Pretty easy this one. I'd imagine that your battery's a bit duff, and as soon as the engine's killed, it's not got enough charge to satisfy the ECU's rather stringent safety checks. So it lights the Battery warning light, which in turn lights the SRS light (don't know why).l

Had exactly the same problem on a Range Rover and a Punto. Dying Battery = low power light = SRS warning

just to clarify???

when u turn the engine off, the keys go back to the 1st position do they not? which is the same as wehn you turn it on, so the ignition lights come on? just wanted to check, are you turning the key all the way around or just half? same if you stall, the lights all come on.

if the lights turned on after taking the key out, yeah i'd be worried.
