Welcome to TOC

What on earth do they mean when it was suggested that the plate was worn down by 'bad weather' I have never heard of such a suggestion :o

Speak to the manager in person - not over the phone. Make your complaint clear and to the point and ask him how bad weather contributed to early clutch failure - also ask him to state his reasons in writing.

Oh don't forget to take a measuring tape so you can measure by how much his/her nose grows during the conversation.

I have heard of some excuses in my time but this deserves an award. I appreciate clutches can be subject to fair wear and tear but if the weather has caused the problem then the car isn't fit for purpose.

I have had my Yaris (manual) for five years and I have experienced clutch trouble from the very first day that I bought it. The clutch mechanism vibrates when driving from stop (forward or reverse). This was minimal in the first couple of years and I hoped it will clear after more use. At that time I did inform the local distributor about the problem but I did not follow the matter up due to health reasons. Now this problem has become very noticeable and the distributor told me it would cost some Euros 400 to have a new clutch. Anybody else had a similar problem ? I appreciate replies on this forum or e-mail: npanpa@maltanet.net
